Nagarkurnool: The farmers under the Dindi project in Kalwakurthy mandal of Nagarkurnool district vexed up with the attitude of the irrigation officials as they failed to take up repair works on the right canal of Dindi project connecting Lattipur and Guvvalonipally villages in Kalwakurthy constituency, have spent money from their own pockets and carried out repairs to the sub-canal.
According to sources, this time the with good rains, the Dindi project has received good inflows and the irrigation officials are expected to release water to the 5,000 acre ayacut under the right canal. However, the farmers have been pleading with the irrigation authorities to conduct repairs to the main and sub-canals. But, the officials have failed to fulfil their request.
Vexed with the attitude of the irrigation officials, the farmers of Lattipur and Guvvalonipally carried out repairs to the sub-canal by spending money from their own pockets. "Though we have a sub-canal that supplies water from Dindi project, because of damages, we are not able to get water to the tail end. We are carrying out repairs by spending our money with the hope of getting water," said a farmer.
The Dindi ayacut farmers are hoping to go for groundnut farming this time. If water is released on time, they are sure that this time they will get good yields.
