Maternal deaths on rise in Telangana State
Hyderabad: Maternal deaths in Telangana have increased during the current year.
As against 389 deaths in 2018-19, 323 deaths have witnessed already until December (in 2019-20).
In each of the 15 districts including, Adilabad, Medak, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Suryapet, Gadwal, Mulugu, Sircilla , Mahabubabad and Warangal (Rural) more than 10 deaths were reported from last year.
Most numbers of deaths were due to hypertension, bleeding, cardiac and sepsis issues.
Special Chief Secretary (Health) Shanti Kumari and Family Welfare Commissioner Yogita Rani held a review meeting with senior officials on this issue on Monday.
They examined district-wise reports and cause of deaths. The officials were told to take all measures required to address the issue.
