Main accused in extortion case held

Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police arrested the main accused in an extortion case on Thursday. However, they could not recover any money from him as he had spent all the extorted money and had nothing.

According to police, on September 29, 2018, one Yasmeen (28), a transgender and resident of Indira Nagar in Banjara Hills, lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills police that on September 27, 2018, the main accused Rowdy Venkat Yadav alias K Venkat, 28, and Sai Pahelwan of Sanathnagar entered her room and thrashed her badly for not giving monthly mamool to them.

They also threatened her that if she would not give money they would kill her 17-month-old baby girl. They forcibly took her wardrobe keys and stole gold ornaments weighing 50 grams and Rs 2 lakh cash and left the place.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against them under section 386 r/w 109 IPC of Arms Act and took up investigation.

Accused M Kalyan Kumar, K Vikesh, N Anil Kumar and M Sai Kumar were arrested on October 10, 2018 and on Thursday the main accused Rowdy Venkat Yadav was arrested by the police.
