Compensation demanded to victims of pipeline damage 

Mahbubnagar: Congress leaders of Devarkadra mandal have demanded the State government to immediately provide compensation to those, who lost lakhs of rupees after vegetable markets and other stock were inundated due to breakage of Mission Bhagiratha (MB) pipeline in the mandal.

Devarkadra party in-charge G Madhusudhan Reddy inspected the site of Mission Bhagiratha pipeline here on Thursday and alleged that the contractor did poor quality works, because of which pipeline leakages became regular. Stating that it took more than 24 hours for the water to recede, Reddy stated that neither officials nor ruling party leaders visited the place to make stock of the situation. He alleged the Devarkadra MLA had taken kickbacks from contractors and overlooked on the quality of works, because of which all the development works in the constituency are not of quality. Madhusudhan Reddy said the recent damage in Devarkadra caused heavy loss to the owners of fertilizer and vegetables shops and residential houses were completely inundated in the leakage water. He demanded the government to provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the owners of these shops and also to those, who incurred loss due to the water leakage.

The Congress leader alleged that the Devarkadra MLA was overlooking the quality of development works in the constituency by taking kickbacks from the contractors and cited examples of Allipur check dam, Karivena 13th package and other works, which are being constructed with low quality material.
