Left leaders want 34 pc quota for BCs in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: Left parties' leaders on Friday demanded that the municipal elections be held only after announcing a 34 per cent reservation for BCs.

The Left parties' leaders A Ramesh Babu and New Democracy's Prabhakar, Krishna, PEDDI Venkata Ramulu, S. Latha, K. Gangadhar, Kevin. Ramulu and Narasaiah presented a representation to the Collector in this regard.

The Left leaders wanted the BC classification and added that the reservation allocations should be made by categorizing them as ABCD categories. They expressed concern that only a few economically strengthened castes would get political opportunities. Even in the last local body elections, BC did not get justice.

They alleged that the Most Backward BCs are unlikely to contest the elections. They wanted the Collector to ensure justice is done.
