Kothagudem: Vanajeevi urges officials to plant medicinal varieties in parks
Kothagudem: Padmasri awardee Vanajeevi Ramaiah has urged the district administration to plant rare and medicinal plants at parks developed by the government.
On Friday, he met District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini at Kothagudem and submitted a memorandum. Speaking on the occasion, Ramaiah said the central park developed at Yellandu crossroads in the town was sans any rare and medicinal plants. He requested the district administration to plant rare and medicinal plant varieties in the park besides sign boards informing the plant's significance, scientific name and its uses.
The move could help the younger generation visiting the park to learn about the rare and herbal plants and create awareness among them, he said. The Collector responded positively to the suggestion made by Ramaiah.
Later, Ramaiah planted saplings at Triveni School and other places in Kothagudem marking the International Yoga Day.
