Kothagudem: Development takes back seat with more in-charges in key posts
Kothagudem: Administration of agency district Bhadradri-Kothagudem is not going as expected due to officers' shortage as many key posts are running with in-charges.
Bhadradri-Kothagudem district was formed during districts reorganisation with huge tribal population and largest distance area wise. Though the government has formed the district but forgot to fill several posts.
According to information, some officials were working as in-charge of other posts but unable to do justice to either post due to work overload. And the result, development is taking a back step.
The important post of DRDA Project Director was filled after Jagath Kumar Reddy was transferred. So present ZP Chief Executive Officer Madhusudhan Raju is acting as the in-charge. Likewise, another key post, Bhadrachalam Sub-Collector is vacant for several months after Bhavesh Mishra was transferred. Later Kothagudem Revenue Development Officer was appointed as the in-charge.
Endowments department Deputy Commissioner G Narsimhulu is acting as the in-charge Executive Officer of Lord Rama temple in Bhadrachalam. District Revenue Officer post is also vacant and being run with in-charge. Social welfare and minority wings are also running with in-charges. Another important post of youth service district officer is also vacant and running with in-charge.
Though the NREGS works are going on at a brisk pace, it is very unfortunate that the government did not appoint a full time Project Director for DRDA, stated BJP district president Koneru Satyanarayana. He alleged that the State government is neglecting the district considering it tribal and backward. CPI district secretary Sabir Pasha said several works are pending and number of files have been piled up in offices as many posts are being run with in-charges.
Tribals, who come from very far off places to get their works done, are returning disappointed as the officers are not available.
When contacted, an officer, also in-charge to another department said that they are finding it hard to manage the responsibilities of two posts and unable to do justice.
