Khammam: Old woman climbs water tank seeking pattadar passbook

Khammam: A 65-year-old woman, Hafeeza Begum, climbed a water tank seeking issuance of pattadar passbook in her name, in Tirumalayapalem mandal in Khammam district on Wednesday. The police, however, were successful in placating her and brought her down by giving assurance that her problem would be addressed soon.

According to sources, Hafeeza Begum, a resident of Hydersaipet village in Tirumalayapalem mandal had some 5 to 6 acres of land. She has a son and daughters. After her husband's death, Hafeeza Begum got her son married. The couple has a son and a daughter.

But, Hafeeza Begum's son married another woman again and this has led to clashes among the family members with regard to land. The land passbooks were issued in the name of both her daughters-in-law.

Hafeeza Begum who has been demanding that the land which is in the name of her first daughter-in-law be transferred in her name, climbed the water tank. Revenue officials said earlier also Hafeeza Begum climbed the water tank twice and demanded passbooks.
