Karimnagar: Purchase food grains at minimum support price sans condition

Karimnagar: TDP Karimnagar Parliament segment president Ambati Joji Reddy on Wednesday demanded the government to purchase food grains from farmers even though the produce has moisture.

The TDP leaders submitted a representation to the District Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal and requested to take initiation in this regard.

Addressing on the occasion, Ambati Joji Reddy said that after a lot of hard work farmers produced the food grains but due to recent rains most of them contain more than required moisture. He said the officials are not purchasing the food grains and rejecting them as the moisture content are more. The government should also purchase such grains otherwise, the farmers would incur huge losses, he added.

Moreover, there are no basic facilities in the purchasing centers like drinking water, tarpaulin sheets, and gunny bags. By investing a lot of money, farmers produced food grains, so it is the responsibility of the government to purchase it at MSP, he demanded.
