Kaleswaram Project inauguration : DGP M Mahender Reddy inspects security arrangements
Bhupalpally: Ahead of the high-profile visit by three Chief Ministers, the administration positioned a huge posse of police force abutting either side of Godavari river to thwart any sort of incursion by the outlawed CPI-Maoists.
The police have been on high alert as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to inaugurate Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) on June 21.
It may be noted here that the project site in the close vicinity of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh borders is infested with Maoists.
As Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alongside two Governors E S L Narasimhan (TS&AP) and Ch Vidyasagar Rao (Maharashtra) are expected to grace the occasion, the police took complete possession of surroundings of Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP)'s components Medigadda barrage, Kannepally pump house, and Mukteeshwara Swamy temple in Kaleswaram, to ensure no security breach during the inaugural ceremony.
With just a couple of days left for the inauguration, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy on Tuesday inspected the project site to look after security arrangements. The DGP had an on-sight review with the top officials about the security measures being taken for the high-profile visit.
He inspected Medigadda barrage, Kannepally pump house and site where inaugural ceremony and Yagam are to take place.
It is learnt that the DGP had instructed the officials to be vigilant until the dignitaries head to their destination after the inaugural ceremony.
"Only those persons who have authorisation from the authorities are to be allowed to the programme," the DGP said.
