Hyderabad: Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar on Tuesday said that because of the government's decision to redesign irrigation project, the Kaleshwaram project today has 100 TMCs of water.

The TRS leader ridiculed TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy for leading the Congress party leaders to Tummidihatti. Vinod asked the Congress chief whether or not he has understood that it was a mistake by the Congress government to have project at Tummidihatti.

The water in Sri Ram Sagar Project is only 17 TMCs today whereas it is 100 TMCs in Kaleshwaram. The TRS leader sent the details of Kaleshwaram project to the Congress leaders.

Vinod Kumar said that the CWC recalled that the Maharashtra government had cautioned his counterpart in Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Kumar Reddy stating that the expenditure would be futile exercise.

Vinod Kumar said that there were reasons for changing the design of Pranahita Chevella. He said that the CWC wrote letter to AP government stating that there was no availability of 160 TMC of water hence the Commission wanted the government to reconsider.

The CWC said that the water at Tummidihatti was 165 TMC and not 273.14 as claimed by the AP government in DPR. The CWC said that out of the 165 TMCs, 63 TMCs would be used by neighbouring States.

He further said that Maharashtra government wanted the State government to decrease the FRL (full reservoir level) of barrage at 148 meters and at this height there is no scope to get more than 44 TMCs.
