Inter-State meeting decides to monitor Tiger movement

Adilabad: The officers of the Tiger Corridors of Telangana and Maharashtra States have decided to monitor the Tiger movement in coordinated manner, exchange of information and technology, and to have meetings between both the States' forest departments at regular intervals for better coordination, at the inter-State coordination meeting of the forest officials of both the States in Adilabad on Wednesday.

The officers of the corridors of both the States under the supervision of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) officials have discussed the problems and mitigative measures for tiger management.

The meeting was aimed at better inter-State coordination between the forest departments of both the States at ground-level for better management of Tadoba- Andhari-Kawal Tiger Landscape.

Three important Tiger Corridors have been identified. They are Thipeshwar – Kawal Tiger Reserve; Tadoba – Kawal Tiger Reserve and Indravathi – Kawal Tiger Reserve.

The participants also shared the recent incidents involving human – animal conflict and best practices.

The meeting was convened by NTCA under the chairmanship of Anup Kumar Nayak, Additional Director General, Project Tiger and Member Secretary, National Tiger Conservation Authority.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Telangana Munindra; Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Maharashtra Nitin Kakodkar; field directors of Kawal, Pench and Tadoba Tiger Reserves, Deputy Inspector Generals and Assistant Inspector Generals of NTCA, DFOs, FDOs, ACFs and Range Officers of both the States had participated in the meeting.
