Hyderabad's Koti women's college to be turned as women university

Education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy directed the officials to make arrangements for the upgradation of Hyderabad's Koti women's college into women's university, marking the 100th anniversary of the college.

The minister on Tuesday held a meeting with the education department officials on the upgradation of the college.

Sabitha asserted that the state government felt the college which is affiliated to Osmania University and UGC and recognized by NAAC have all the credentials to transform into women's university. She asked the officials to expedite the works related to the transformation of college into university on the directions of the Chief Minister.

TSCHE chairman professor Limbadri, vice-chairman Venkata Ramana, commissioner of state board of technical education Naveen Mittal, intermediate board secretary Umar Jaleel, OU registrar Lakshmi Narayana, Koti women's college principal Vijulatha attended the meeting.

At present, 4,159 women students are studying in the college and the number is likely to go up further with the transformation of college into university, the minister said.

She further asked the officials to prepare a report on the same and submit it to the government soon.
