Hyderabad: Upper caste leaders in TRS get lion's share of DCCB chairman posts

Hyderabad: Upper caste leaders in the TRS got higher share in the nomination for the post of DCCB Chairman as six out of nine DCCB chairmen posts were given to upper caste Reddys and Velamas and one chairman post each was given to BC, ST and minority leaders.

The elections to chairmen of District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) and District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS) were held in the districts on Saturday. Among the chairmen, some of them are kith and kin of the senior TRS leaders.

In Nizamabad district, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy's son Pocharam Bhaskar Reddy was given the post of DCCB Chairman. Similarly, in Nalgonda the post was given to G Mahender Reddy, who is the husband of MLA and Whip G Sunitha.

In Rangareddy, the district president of the party B Manohar Reddy was given the post. The Medak DCCB Chairman post was given to Ch Devender Reddy.

The Karimnagar DCCB Chairman post was given to K Ravinder Rao and Warangal DCCB Chairman post was given to M Ravinder Rao, both are from Velama caste.

The Khammam DCCB Chairman post was given to Nagabhushanam, who is a BC leader from the district. Navdev Kamble was made the chairman of Adilabad DCCB and Nizam Pasha was given the Mahbubnagar DCCB Chairman post. Party leaders said that the local equations had made the post go to a minority candidate.

A senior TRS leader said that the caste equations are not considered in the cooperative posts. The list may appear to be giving preference to upper castes' but it is balanced by giving the DCMS Chairmen and Vice Chairmen posts, said the TRS leader.

The leaders who got the post of DCCB Vice Chairmen include K Venkateshwar Reddy (Warangal), Y Dayakar Reddy (Nalgonda), Ramesh (Karimnagar), Ramesh Reddy (Nizamabad), Manikyam (Medak), Sattaiah (Rangareddy) and Raghunandan Reddy (Adilabad).

The leaders who got DCMS posts include Seshagiri Rao (Khammam), G Ramaswamy (Warangal), V Janaiah Yadav (Nalgonda), Y Srikanth Reddy (Karimnagar), N Mohan (Nizamabad), Linganna (Adilabad), M Shivakumar (Medak) and Krishna Reddy (Rangareddy).
