Hyderabad: Seminar on mysticism held at MANUU

Gachibowli: The Instructional Media Centre (IMC), Maulana Azad National Urdu University, in collaboration with Iran Culture House New Delhi, organised a seminar on mysticism on Friday. The seminar also curated calligraphic works of Iranian Scholar, Dr Massoud Rabbani. Further the delegates discussed mystic connect between India and Iran. Addressing the inaugural session at the seminar Dr Mohammed Ali Rabbani, Cultural Counselor, Iran Culture House (ICH), New Delhi said, "Significance of mysticism in historical perspective of Indian and Iran." Speaking about Iranian Islamic mysticism, Dr Mohammad Ali Rabbani described it as the connecting point of Indo-Iran cultural and historical relations. Mystic and Sufi migrants from Iran, introduced Islam in India, he remarked. mysticism is very useful for a diverse country like India. Professor Mohd Kazem Kohdoui, Iranian Scholar from University of Yezd. Spoke about the importance of mysticism in the historical context of Indo-Iran relations. Dr Massoud Rabbani also shared his views about his calligraphic artwork and described it as the result of his 40 years of hard work. Dr Massoud said love is the language of calligraphy.

Islamic mysticism or sufism is a significant part of intellectual heritage. This school of thought is very important & effective in countering extremist ideologies. Dr Mohammed Ali Rabbani, Cultural Counselor, Iran Culture House (ICH), New Delhi expressed these views on Friday at Maulana Azad National Urdu University. Meanwhile, the Iranian Film Festival under the banner of cinema club "Cinematheque MANUU" was also started at the campus with screening of Iranian film "Dilbari". Six more film are in line to be screened on Saturday and Sunday.

PhD degrees awarded

The university has declared Jarrar Ahamad qualified in Doctor of Philosophy in Education. He worked on "Impact of Process Approach on Writing Competency in Urdu Language" under the supervision of Professor Vanaja M, Department of Education & Training, MANUU Hyderabad.

MANUU also declared Mohmad Iqbal, qualified in Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work. He worked on "Life in Conflict Zone: An Ethnographic Study of Kashmir" under the supervision of Dr Aftab Alam, Assistant Professor Mohmad Iqbal is the first PhD pass out from the Department of Social Work.
