Update: 2020-06-10 00:06 IST
Officials are in a hurry to complete the pending works and free the roads for commuters

Hyderabad: Several civic works, which have been taken up earnestly during the lockdown across the city, especially in the West Zone, are nearing completion much ahead of the deadline. Similarly, construction of flyover at Santosh Nagar too gathered pace but since lockdown 5.0 started the pace of work has taken a beating.

Authorities attribute the reason to relaxation norms. During the initial lockdown, there was hardly any traffic on the road and works were done without problem. The entire road starting from DRDL via Midhani x Roads to Owaisi Junctions has been taken up for construction but with relaxations n lock down the traffic is jammed. "For the last two months the roads have been empty due to which the road works were going on a pace. However, now after lockdown is being followed only in night hours, the officials are in a hurry to complete the pending works and free the roads for commuters," said Mohammed Ahmed, a regular commuter.

He added, it's been very congested for vehicles to pass and being stuck in traffic for long and commuters are facing inconvenience. According to GHMC officials, the flyover bridge works are on from Bairamalguda near Champapet (Sagar Road) ends near SBI Bank in Phisalbanda (Chandrayangutta road) crossing two junctions Owaisi Hospital junction and Midhani junction, which is one of the biggest ongoing projects in Old City. "As soon as the flyover column works are complete, there will be no free flow and no traffic will be jammed," said GHMC official.

Riyasath Nagar division Corporator Mirza Saleem Baig said that on the instructions of GHMC Commissioner, the construction works of flyover were speeding up and the sewerage works which were pending due to traffic by HMWSSB has been completed."

"As for now at least for a week the road will be same and it is being controlled by the Traffic police and after the column works were completed the roads will be free for commuters," said Saleem Baig.
