Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Environment Day, two iconic projects – the Telangana Martyr's Memorial and Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate Headquarters & Integrated Command & Control Centre , have been registered with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry, State Roads and Building Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy informed on Friday.

The Minister said that the two projects were implementing environment-friendly measures mainly day lighting, usage of LED lights, rainwater harvesting pits ,storage tanks, sewage wastewater treatment & reuse within building premises.

Additionally, these structures are designed to be easily accessible for differently abled persons and senior citizens.

Latest building automation technologies such as lighting controls, CO2 monitoring, centralized control of air conditioners and other electrical systems were also included.

Reddy said that the R&B department has ensured that these two new and grand structures were built sustainably, with minimum impact on the environment, resulting in energy savings of at least 30-50%, and water consumption savings of about 20-30%, compared to conventional buildings.

State DGP M Mahender Reddy, Engineer -in Chief ( R and B) I Ganapti Reddy and other were also present.
