Officials urged to shift dump yard

Hyderabad: With the onset of summer, mosquito menace is causing jitters in the surrounding localities of the dump yard located between Shivaji Bridge and Mahatma Gandhi Bus station (MGBS). The site has also been causing distress to the locals by emitting a foul smell all through the day.

G Vishal, founder-president of Suraksha Yojna Welfare Society and a resident of the area, said, "By 6 pm mosquito menace starts. Despite several representations to shift the location of the dumping yard, there has been no action."

Morning walkers have been complaining for several years and they have also sent many requests and representations. V Ramesh Yadav, president of Imlibun Park Walkers Association, said, "The number of trucks increased during lockdown has aggravated the situation and the foul odour and mosquitoes are pervasive.

People residing in the neighbouring areas are affected and kids are having health issues. Back in May 2019, we filed a case against the same in the court which asked civic authorities to move the yard from the spot within eight days but the order is yet to be implemented." Officials concerned were not available for comment.
