Hyderabad: Officials gearing up to make Hyderabad a Safe City

Hyderabad: Important issues were discussed threadbare at a meeting chaired by Additional DGP Jitender and GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar on the Safe City Project on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the ADGP said that about 10,000 cameras had been installed for public safety and they only need to be synchronised to Command & Control Room, from where the traffic can be monitored the facilities can be utilized by other agencies like HMWS&SB, Electricity and another 3000 cameras were sanctioned under Nirbaya.

The Commissioner reviewed the progress of works under the Comprehensive Road Management Programme (CRMP) viz., re-carpeting of roads, and instructed the officials to stop giving permissions for road cutting from May 15 and asked the CRMP agencies to take up road cutting, restoration and re-carpeting of road works well before onset of monsoon.

Further, the Commissioner delegated the power of road-cutting permission and restoration of dug-up roads to the respective zonal commissioners in order to speed up the works and instructed the ZCs to coordinate with the different stakeholders and CRMP agencies so that the works are grounded in an organized manner and completed in a stipulated time.

L&T and GIO agencies were asked to prepare the list of places and with time schedule of specific date of start and completion of works so the CRMP officials would restore the roads immediately without causing many problems to the commuters and to regulate the traffic by the police. The L&T and GIO agencies were asked to for micro trenching as far as possible instead of open trenching. CRMP agencies should take up restoration works within 48 hours after the developmental works completed.

During the meeting, the issue of parking management solutions was discussed for integration of multilevel parking, vacant land parking and on-street parking to bring them under one parking system so that the commuters can utilise all parking facilities with one common ticket.

Issue of regulating street venders also came up and it was explored to provide them smart cards so that they could carry out business at designated places only, and also on providing alternative suitable and better place instead of on roads on weekly bazaars in the colonies.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, L S Chauhan and Anil Kumar, Addl. CP Traffic, Cyberabad, Addl Commissioner Shankaraiah, GHMC Zonal Commissioners P Pravinya Reddy, Ravi Kiran, Mamatha, Upender Reddy and Srinivas Reddy, Additional CPs Anil Kumar, Chauhan, Ziauddin, the Chief Engineer, ACPs and other senior officials from police and CRMP agencies attended the meeting.
