Hyderabad: Hemodialysis numbers top 50k at Railway Hospital
Hyderabad: The Central Hospital, popularly called Railway Hospital at Lallaguda, has reached a landmark by surpassing 50,000 Hemodialysis. The dialysis facility was inaugurated in 2016. As many as 15 dialysis machines serve 130 serving and retired railway employees and dependent patients undergoing maintenance dialysis.
In 2016, 7,032 Hemodialysis procedures were done, averaging 20 each day. In the next three years, it touched 15,500 procedures. The cost savings per annum on account of the dialysis unit at the hospital is estimated to be about Rs 3 crore.
During the present Covid-19 lockdown period too, the unit has undertaken 2791 Hemodialysis procedures till date. There are 25 patients on Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis and 25 patients, who are on Post Renal Transplant follow up, under the regular care of the Dialysis centre.
While Dr NVBK Sai, Additional Chief Health Director, SCR, holds charge of the dialysis unit, Dr Pavan Kumar, Visiting Nephrologist, handles patient care and consultation. Administration is taken care of by Dr C K Venkateshwarulu, Medical Director, Central Hospital, Lallaguda.
