Hyderabad: GPO launches nodal delivery centre

Centre established to deliver parcels and posts quickly; More centres soon

Abids: Telangana circle Chief Postmaster General K Sandhya Rani inaugurated Nodal Delivery Centre here at General Post Office on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Sandhya Rani said that the centre was established to deliver parcels and posts quickly. She said that delivery capacity was being increased in view of 14 per cent growth in Speed Post and registered post services. She said that the department was taking measures to deliver 500 to 800 parcels a day. Opening of nodal centres at Kacheguda, Trimulgherry, Secunderabad, Jamia Osmania and Kukatpally were being proposed. Post offices at Khairatabad, Somajiguda, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Humayun Nagar, Vijaynagar Colony, Putli Bowli, Himayat Nagar and LIC division would be covered under the nodal centers at GPO, she said.

For improving postal services and better delivery of business parcels, registered parcels, international parcels, cash-on-delivery and Speed Post, additional four and two-wheeler vehicles would be purchased, Sandhya Raniadded.
