Hyderabad: Drainage works at Rein Bazar hits roadblock
Hyderabad: Even after the remodeling of sewage water drain pipeline works have been sanctioned, the work idsmmmmmmmmof and contractor are yet to start the work in Rein Bazaer bylanes, Bandlaguda, Kukatpally zone.
For the past 7-8 months, Chandanagar and its surrounding bylanes in Rein Bazar, there is a continuous sewerage overflow and several representations were given to HMWSSB and GHMC, but the issues were unheard. "The entire road is filled with sewerage water and foul smell emanates from it making it impossible for commuters to walk," said Shaik Kaleem, a resident.
In the first week of May, RTI activist Mohammed Abdul Rahman posted the issue on Twitter and tagged GHMC, HMWSSB and Minister of MA&UD K T Rama Rao. The Minister retweeted and asked the officials concerned to solve issue at the earliest. "Responding to the tweet, Minister KTR asked the officials to resolve the issue and sanctioned an amount of Rs 9.70 lakh, but it's been around a month and yet no works have been initiated," said Abdul Rahman, RTI Activist.
After the works of remodeling of SW drain pipelines were sanctioned, the officials conducted a survey and instructed the contractor to start the works. "Officials are playing blame game and passing the buck," added Rahman.
According to GHMC officials, the existing pipeline was laid 20 years back, the pipeline sank due to which the water stagnation occurs. To resolve this, desilting work was done several times.
