Closure of liquor shops demanded by women leaders

Basheerbagh: The women's wing of SC/ST and Minority United Front gave an ultimatum to the government to close all liquor shops by March 31. It held a meeting on the issue here on Tuesday.

Speaking to media after the meeting, women leaders stated that rampant sale of liquor in the state was resulting in increase in crime and health issues among public. They said that they were giving 24-hour time to the state government to make the announcement in this regard, or else they would stage protest in front of liquor shops across the state.

Among those who attended the meeting were chairman of the front Manda Krishna Madiga, Mala Mahanadu president G Chennaiah, MLC Ramulu Naik, K Maheshwari Raj, women wing convener JP Latha Madiga, co-convener Mota Shyamala, Netla Anjali, Gaddam Geetanjali, J Indra, K Shanti, Ramaleela, Lalitha, Dulapally Vani and others.
