Healthcare is high on agenda: Eatala Rajender

Mahabubabad/Mulugu/Warangal: Not all fevers were dengue and malaria, according to Health Minister Eatala Rajender, who was on a visit to State-run hospitals in Mahabubabad, Mulugu and Warangal on Wednesday in order to review the medical services dispensed by them.

"A whopping 98 per cent of the patients are making a beeline to the hospitals only due to viral fevers, and it is not true dengue as claimed by some political parties. Even though the hospitals have no sufficient space to accommodate all the patients, the staff is trying its level best to serve the needy," he said.

In Mahabubabad, the Minister said a full-fledged hospital would come up in the town. The government had already identified 18 acres for the Rs 100-crore hospital, he said. "There is no truth in the campaign launched by some political parties that dengue is on the rise," he said. The government is prepared to tackle the situation as it had already ensured adequate supply of medicines in all State-run hospitals, the Minister said.

He appealed to the people to participate in the 30-day special action plan for the development of villages. "Keep your villages clean and green, and adopt safe practices to prevent contagious diseases," he said.

Rajender called for coordination between Panchayat Raj and Medical and Health Departments in creating awareness among the villagers about hygienic practices. He interacted with the patients during his inspection.

Rajender chaired a review meeting of the healthcare services in which Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Mahabubabad MP Maloth Kavitha, MLAs B Shankar Naik and Seethakka were present.
