Guidelines issued to HMs, MEOs to enrol children in govt schools

Hyderabad: Telangana State School Education Department has issued guidelines for the implementation of Prof Jayashankar Badi Bata Programme (PJSBBP) for the academic year 2019-20 under the Samagra Sikha Abhiyan (SSA).

The 13-point guidelines given by Director of School Education and Ex Officio State Project Director Telangana Samagra Shiksha (TSS) Vijayakumar urged the Headmasters (HMs) of government schools and the Mandal Education Officers (MEO) to prepare profiles of their respective school highlighting their performance and the plans to improve with a request to parents to admit their children in the government-run schools.

As part of the PJSBBP implementation, the HMs should update the Village education Register (VER) by incorporating details of number of children in the age group of 5 to 15 years enrolled, and dropouts.

The details should also be updated in Child Info website. In addition to it, the HMs should also prepare a list of school children never enrolled, dropouts, child labourers etc, within the school catchment area of each government school.

Each school should also prepare a profile giving details of enrolment, dropouts, out of school children, school facilities and resources. results and the community participation with the school.

Preparing the list of enrolled children in the catchment area of the schools separately in the schools run by the government and local bodies, private recognised schools, residential schools, model schools and KGBVs etc. should also be taken care by the HMs. That apart, each should school keep ready its school development plan (SDP).

The action plan also stressed that MEOs prepare the list of all 'out of school girl children,' dropout girls, girls who are in danger of dropping out. based on the reports, the HMs are asked to forward the same to the principals of the KGBV in their mandal for admission.

In turn, the KGBV special officers and other staff are asked to set up an information and admission desk at the KGBV and provide on the spot counselling and admission to the OSC girl children. Apart from it, the HMs and MEOs are asked to launch door-to-door campaign to promoting enrolment.
