Government to blame for spread of viral fevers: BJP leader
Serilingampally: State BJP Executive Committee Member Jnanendra Prasad contended here on Sunday that the government should take the blame for the spread of viral fevers. He was speaking after consoling the family of a 12-year-old boy Hemanth, son of Bikshapati, who died of dengue in Madinaguda. Later, Prasad tried to secure status of viral fevers in the colony.
Speaking to the media, the BJP leader pointed out that people in the Serilingampally constituency were suffering from severe viral fevers and getting admitted to hospitals. He blamed the government officials for the spread of such fevers caused by collapse of drainage system and piled up garbage. The GHMC staff was leaving garbage uncleared, he flayed.
Prasad claimed that so far five persons in the constituency had succumbed to viral fevers, while 12 were had been admitted to hospitals. Yet, he observed, it was painful that the MLA and the GHMC corporators were found 'sleeping'.
He demanded holding of medical camps in colonies for saving residents from viral fevers and free treatment in corporate hospitals, besides those being run by the State. He wanted officials, the MLA and corporators to tour the constituency and extend financial assistance to the victims' families, while blaming the government for the suffering of the common patients. The BJP leader said the government should initiate remedial steps to prevent recurrence of viral fevers. Among those who accompanied Prasad during his tour were party activists Shiva, Ramakrishna, Ramesh, Bikshapati, Ravi, several colony residents.
