Government implementing welfare schemes for disabled: Nirmal Collector M Prashanthi

Nirmal: The government is implementing number of welfare schemes for physically challenged persons, stated District Collector M Prashanthi while addressing at a programme on International Day of Disabled Persons at TNGO Bhavan in Nirmal on Tuesday.

Collector Prashanthi said that the government has increased the pension of the disabled from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016 and soon ramps and wheel chairs will be arranged in all government institutions. The backlog posts will be filled with disabled persons. She assured of striving for constructing community buildings for the disabled and as per government regulations, action will be taken to enforce reservation in government departments.

Sadaram camps will be organised in every mandal for physically handicapped persons and steps will be taken to set up ramps at super markets and to give special training for the handicapped.

Collector Prashanthi felicitated three employees of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and presented appreciation letters. Mementos were given to the winners of games conducted for the handicapped. She also distributed tricycles to the handicapped persons. District Library Chairman A Rajendar, Sarangapur ZPTC Patti Reddy Rajeshwar Reddy, ICDS officer Rajagopal, district child protection officer Ganganna, vice-president Ramesh Reddy, Panchakula Koti Reddy, Kranthi Kumar and others were present.
