Hyderabad: Gleneagles Global Hospitals at LB Nagar, Hyderabad, organised the 5K Kidney Run to spread awareness on Kidneys to commemorate World Kidney day 2019.

The run was organized to create awareness on the importance of our kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems.

The 5 km run was organised from Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals to Priyadarshini Park.

Globally, kidney disease is the third biggest killer after cancer and cardiac ailments.

More than 200,000 kidney failures occur in India annually. In six out of 10 chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, diabetes and hypertension are the underlying cause

D Sudheer Reddy MLA from L B Nagar flagged off the 5k run at 6.45 am from Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, which saw a huge response and active participation from the neighborhood communities, Doctors, Paramedics, Donors, Recipients, Dialysis Patients & Volunteers.

"We at Gleneagles Global Hospitals sought to highlight the causes, remedies and preventive measures concerning kidney diseases. There has been a spurt in the cases of kidney diseases in the recent year given to rapidly growing number of diabetics and hypertensive people.
