GEM programme concludes on a grand note in Ramagundam

Ramagundam: Four-week long GEM programme concluded on a grand note at NTPC-Ramagundam on Wednesday. Inaugurating the event, chief guest Peddapalli District Collector A Sri Devasena hoped this will give momentum to girl empowerment in the district. She asked the GEM trainee girls to continue their focus on empowerment with the thrust on mental health.

Addressing the gathering, ED-Ramagundam/Telangana Dr PP Kulkarni appreciated all the concerned for their sincere efforts to make the event a grand success and added, "We take a lot of satisfaction to play our role in creating 'gems' through this well-planned residential programme. They are our future brand ambassadors."

Expressing his happiness, D Patankar, GM (CSR), Corporate Centre, NTPC, appreciated the children and their parents, who materialised NTPC's unique idea of Girl Empowerment Mission. In fact, the mission has just started and we have a long way to go to expand the horizon of girl empowerment. Besides continuation of the same programme next year, we are planning to give opportunity to the best GEM trainee girls admission in NTPC-run schools and participation in NTPC Raising Day Cultural programme, Patankar added.

The major attraction of the event was the cultural programme by GEM students featuring semi classical, zumba dance (exercise dance), yoga aasanas, dance performance (Ori Cirraiya, Shape of You, Mahi ve and dance on Girl Empowerment and Girl Education), mime act (Save Girl Child Concept), skit, martial art and pyramid formation and many more which enthralled the audience.

Earlier, the dignitaries visited the exhibition on GEM activities and inspected the arts and crafts creative displays. In the beginning, GM (HR) MS Ramesh welcomed the guests and highlighted the efforts taken to successfully organising the event. Later, the dignitaries distributed certificates to the GEM students and presented mementoes to others.

Ramagundam Ex-MLA S Satyanarayana; G Komuraiah, Chairperson, Child Welfare, Karimnagar; Deepthi Mahila Samithi president Swati P Kulkarni and other office bearers and members; representatives from Union and Associations; resource persons from Aware Group; NTPC senior officials, parents of GEM students and township residents have attended the concluding programme.
