Final phase of polls largely peaceful
Vikarabad: The final and third phase of Parishad polls in the district were concluded peacefully except some sporadic disturbances.
A total of 70.86 poll percentage was recorded in this phase. Out of total voters of 2,05,655, only 1, 47, 759 exercised their franchise. Among them 76,063 were male and 71,696 were female
Almost 427 polling centres had been arranged in this phase for 2,05,655 voters. Marpalli had 92 polling centers, which is a highest number. Bantwaram had lowest number of polling centres with 34.
Vikarabad had 45, Tharur 69, Mominpet 75, Nawabpet 69, Kotpalli had 43 polling centres. As many as 173 sensitive areas were identified in this phase.
There was a dispute erupted between TRS and Congress party in Arkatala village in Nawabpet mandal. Both parties resorted to attack each other. Several people were injured during the clash.
Tension gripped the village for some time. Police canned the trouble mongers and took several into custody. Vikarabad DSP Sirisha, ASP Bhaskar reached the spot and reviewed the situation time to time.
On the other side, people of Bikkareddyguda, a hamlet village for Chandranpalli village in Mominpet mandal boycotted the polls. They said they were facing hardships as their village was being neglected.
They demanded that their hamlet should be separated from Chandranpalli and made an affiliated village to Mominpet panchayat. Officials held discussions with the villages and made them agree to cast their votes.
