Karimnagar: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district vice-president G Thirupathi demanded the government to fill doctor and nurse posts that were lying vacant in government hospitals. DYFI members submitted a memorandum to Joint Collector GV Shyam Prasad Lal on Grievance Day in Karimnagar on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, G Thirupathi alleged that many poor patients are taking loans to visit private hospitals due to lack of special doctors such as cardiologist, neuro-physician and neuro-surgeons in the government hospital and some are losing their lives as they are unable to pay the cost for the treatment in private hospitals.

Head nurse, staff nurse and ANM posts are also lying vacant in government hospitals, which also must be filled for rendering better services to the poor patients, who come to government hospitals. The CT-Scan in Karimnagar main government hospital is not in working condition due to which the patients are going to other diagnostic centres and wasting their money, he alleged.

Thirupathi said that only a few doctors are coming to the hospital on time while many others are coming late and leaving early, without following the duty timings of 9 am to 2 pm.

He demanded the government to focus on several issues pertaining to government hospitals and fill vacant doctor and nurse posts immediately.

DYFI leaders Venkatesh, Naresh, Patel, Sampath and Rathod were present along with others.
