Farmers to begin works as rains lash Gadwal

Update: 2019-07-26 23:29 IST

Gadwal: The Gadwal and its surrounding mandals in the district received moderate rains on Friday. With this, the farmers who were eagerly waiting for rains for the last two months, have expressed their happiness and hoped for more rains to kickstart the farming works in the district.

"In Gadwal, a majority of farmers grow cotton, groundnut and maize. However, with delayed rains this Kharif, the farming activity has started very late. If the rains continue with the same pace for the next two months, we can hope good crop yields this season," stated Govind Nayak, District Agriculture Officer, Gadwal.

With continuous rains since Friday morning in KT Doddi, Dharur, Gattu, Maldakal, Gadwal and other surrounding mandals, the farmers of all these mandals have expressed happiness that at least now they could start farming activities with full force. "These rains though late will definitely help in sowing paddy and rescue the standing dry crops," said a resident Nanda Kishore from Gadwal district.
