Drunk & Drive Cases: Traffic police charge 3,175 in August

Hyderabad: So far, 3,175 drunk and drive cases have been booked and penalty of Rs 45,54, 551 was collected the traffic police of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates in August.

In August those caught driving under the influence of alcohol were awarded jail terms ranging from one day to 20 days in Cyberabad limits.

216 in Hyderabad limits were imprisoned for seven days and in some cases to till rising of court and 49 persons in Rachakonda limits were sentenced to community service.

According to Anil Kumar, Additional CP, Traffic, a total of 12 violators, who were caught by Hyderabad traffic police, were jailed for driving without licence.

All the violators were sent to Chanchalguda jail. Driving licences of two persons was permanently cancelled and 60 driving licences were suspended for a period ranging from one month to six years.

S M Vijay Kumar, DCP, Traffic of Cyberabad, said out of 1,342 drunk and drive cases in Cyberabad limits, a total of 238 cases were booked on Outer Ring Road (ORR).
