Disha's Murder Repercussions : SHE Teams out to intensify awareness drives

Hyderabad: After the brutal incident of Disha's gang rape and murder, the Women Safety Wing officials decided to intensify their awareness programmes on SHE Teams and Bharosa Centres and the WhatsApp numbers so that women in distress can utilise them.

Speaking to media, IGP Law and Order and In-charge of Women Safety Wing Swati Lakra appealed to women to not hesitate at any point of time to call dial 100 in emergencies and SHE teams numbers.

She said since Disha's parents alleged that the police personnel showed negligence and spoke in abusive language when they reached the police station, very soon they were planning to start training sessions for staff on how to deal with the complainants, how to speak and what not to speak.

She said when a woman comes to a police station during night-time police staff must understand her problem and swing into action and do the needful so that she gets protection and justice.

IGP Swati Lakra said with the help of volunteers and suggestions and advices from the public they would introspect the drawbacks and lapses and would succeed in identifying troublesome areas and hotspots to overcome them and further to provide better safety measures to the women in distress.
