Devotees throng Kondagattu temple

Karimnagar: Despite scorching heat, lakhs of Lord Hanuman devotees of Telangana and neighbouring States on Thursday thronged the historic Anjaneya Swamy temple of Kondagattu to have Lord Hanunaman darshan.

The three-day Chinna Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, which started on Wednesday, witnessed a sea of Hanuman devotees, who were under deeksha for 11, 21 and 41 days, on Thursday at Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple, Maliala mandal, Karimnagar district.

Panchamuka Anjaneya Swamy is the presiding deity of Kondagattu temple, which was been described as first of its kind in the State with a history of 500 years.

After taking a holy dip in the temple tank, devotees offered prayers, performed puja rituals and sought blessings of prosperity from Anjaneya Swamy.

Many devotees believe that childless couple will be blessed with children if they worship Lord Hanuman for 41 days and all diseases would vanish if the people stay in the temple premises for a night.

The authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the three-day celebrations. Under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Venkata Ramana, tight security arrangements were made at the temple along with deploying about 700 members of police personnel.

The temple authorities had prepared three lakhs laddus for prasadam keeping in view of the heavy rush of devotees. Two queue lines were arranged for the convenience of devotees and special line for VIPs. RTC officials arranged free bus services from parking place to the temple.
