DDS groups lauded for making millets popular

Zaheerabad: "Anything can be achieved if we try with confidence. And that is what the women groups of DDS proved to be right," said District Collector M Hanumantha Rao.

Speaking at a felicitation programme at Pastapur, the Collector appreciated the groups which promote millets were making this area popular in the world. MLC Fareeduddin praised the women who had been working hard for biodiversity.

MLA Manik Rao appreciated them for receiving international awards. Collector's wife Sharavanthi said preserving seeds for three generations was a great thing and the women of DDS would be blessed by Goddess Earth.

The successful women Rojavva, Sarmemma, Anjamma, Swarupamma, Santhoshamma, Vinoda, Chandibai, Anasuyamma, Mogulamma, along with documentary film maker M Mayuri were felicitated by the guests of honour.

DDS Director PV Sateesh, co-director Jayasri, Bhumika monthly magazine editor Satyavathi, educationalist Damayati Reddy and others were present.
