Congress to infuse young blood in Mahbubnagar unit

Mahbubnagar: Congress is planning to infuse young blood into the Mahbubnagar district unit of the party and to start this exercise right from the Jadcherla Assembly constituency.

In fact, in the entire erstwhile Mahbubnagar district, the Jadcherla constituency has a unique and interesting record. A popular reputation is in vogue that whoever wins as MLA from this constituency, the party of that concerned person will come to power at the State level.

And if one looks back at the political history of this constituency, it clearly reflects the above fact.

Even though Congress had put its tough senior candidate in the form of Dr Mallu Ravi to contest in 2014 and in 2018 Assembly elections, on both the occasions the party lost it to TRS party's Dr Laxma Reddy. However, now keeping an eye on the 2022 general elections, the Congress is strategically moving its steps and has shunted Mallu Ravi from Jadcherla and brought in Anirudh Reddy, a young and industrialist leader who is very much closer to the poor in the villages of all the four mandals of Jadcherla constituency.

In fact, it is said that internal lobby of the Congress was very much in favour of Anirudh Reddy for the MLA ticket in Jadcherla constituency; however, with the pressure from senior party leader Dr Mallu Ravi, the Congress high command had decided to give another chance.

But as he lost both Assembly election from Jadcherla and Parliament poll from Nagarkurnool, the Congress party is said to have resolved to shut out old leaders and infuse new and young blood into the party to revive the party winning prospects in the future. "The party needs new and young leaders who can drive the public's opinion and not impose their ideologies on to the public. The Congress is very much looking to field a young leader from Jadcherla and definitely in 2022, the party will come to power in the State," said a source from Congress party in Mahabubnagar.
