Jangaon: “The Congress Government should focus on protecting the farmers,” former minister T Harish Rao said. He along with former ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod, Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari and Narsampet former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy inspected the standing crops damaged in Devaruppula mandal on Sunday.

“The Congress which promised good days to the farmers betrayed them after coming to power. Even though the farmers suffered crop damage in around 20 lakh acres, the government is yet to take proactive measure to help them. The government didn’t even have time to console the farmers,” Harish Rao said.

“Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy did have time to invite the Opposition party leaders into the Congress but have no time to console the crop affected farmers,” Harish Rao said. “As many as 120 farmers died in Telangana since Congress came to power,” he added. He demanded the government to provide a compensation of Rs 25,000 per acre to the farmers whose crops were affected.

Harish alleged that the government terribly failed to ensure irrigation and free power to the farmers.
