Collector examines saplings planted last year under Haritha Haram in Wanaparthy
Wanaparthy: While taking stock of plants that were planted during the last Haritha Haram (HH) programme, District Collector Swehta Mohanty inspected the plants along side of the Wanaparthy-Pebbair Highway in Ayyavaripally and Venkatapur villages of Pebbair mandal of Wanaparthy district on Tuesday.
The Collector visited the places where the plants were planted and enquired with the Assistant Project Officer (APO) as to how many labourers have been deployed for the digging pits.
Later, the Collector asked to give details of number of plants planted during last Haritha Haram for which the APO replied that out of 600 plants planted on the highway, only 400 were live while 200 have died. She warned the APO to take immediate steps to replace the lost plants with new ones and provide plant guards and also appoint a person to safeguard the plants until they get self-sustained.
Ganesh, District Rural Development Organisation (DRDO) project director, along with Pebbair Tahsildar and APOs took part in the programme.
