Collector Anitha Ramachandran calls for protecting saplings planted under Haritha Haram in Yadadri-Bhongir
Yadadri-Bhongir: District Collector Anitha Ramachandran stated that each and every village in the district must flourish with greenery as per the newly-enacted Panchayat Raj Act.
On Thursday, she attended as chief guest to an awareness meeting on implementation of Haritha Haram programme in villages held at a private functional hall in Bhongir.
Addressing the gathering, the Collector said nurseries in every village must be developed in such a way that as many as 40,000 saplings must be planted in every village every year.
Precautionary measures must be taken to protect 85 percentage planted saplings and added to provide six plants to each household under Haritha Haram programme.
Apart from planting saplings along the roads under rural employment scheme, she urged people to plant saplings on office premises, forest lands and other vacant places to improve forest cover in the district.
District Rural Development Agency Upender Reddy, in-charge District Panchayat Officer Venkat Reddy, Irrigation Engineer Ramchandar, SC development and welfare officers Krishna Murthy, Sajjan and others attended the meeting.
