Cardiac patient dies as equipment in ambulance conk off in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a person died of cardiac arrest at Malakpet railway station on Tuesday allegedly due to negligence on the part of ambulance staff.

The deceased, identified as Anand, boarded the MMTS train at Begumpet railway station and complained of chest pain when the train reached Malakpet railway station.

The 108 Ambulance was called, but its doors failed to open as they were jammed. By the time the patient was taken inside the ambulance and oxygen mask was placed on him, he died.

A commuter said that when Anand complained of chest pain, a co-passenger immediately dialled 108 and called ambulance at Malakpet railway station. The ambulance arrived on time, but its doors got jammed and did not open for eight minutes.

Locals also alleged that when the patient was placed in the ambulance, the medical monitor malfunctioned and the staff forgot to place the oxygen mask on, he said.
