Call to conserve environment in Narsampet

Narsampet (Warangal Rural): Forest Department has organised plantation programme at Sainik School in Ashok Nagar and Pakhal Biodiversity Park at Pakhal on Tuesday. The programme was organised in association with Vana Seva Society, Orugallu Wildlife Society, Jana Vignana Vedika, Lions Club, Sanghamitra green revolution organisation, Swaasa Foundation and others.

Warangal Rural District Collector M Haritha and Chief Conservator of Forests, Warangal Circle, MJ Akbar called upon people to take up plantation drive on a massive note to protect the environment from polluting.

Haritha said: "Afforestation should not remain the responsibility of the government only. With global warming is matter of concern for every living being on the planet, there is an imperative need to make plantation drive a mass movement."

Referring to the new Panchayat Raj act, Akbar explained the role of people's representatives in the implementation of Haritha Haram. Stating that the weather is conducive for plantation of saplings, he urged the people to come forward and own the programme.

DFO K Purushotham said that of the six lakh target, the authorities have planted two lakh saplings so far.Sainik School Principal Sangeeth Sagar Naik, RDO Ravi, representatives of NGOs and 600 odd students participated in the plantation drive.
