By-elections for one TS MLC seat on Aug 26

Hyderabad:  By-elections to fill one vacant seat of Telangana State Legislative Council will be held on August 26.

The seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of MLC K. Yadava Reddy on January 16 this year. Originally his term was to end on June 3, 2021.

As per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India on Thursday, the notification for by-elections will be held on 7th August and the last date for nominations will be 14th August. While the nominations will be scrutinised on 16th August, the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be 19th August. Polling, counting of votes and declaration of results will be on 26th August.

The election for lone MLC seat, to be filled by MLAs, is likely to be unanimous in favour of Telangana Rashtra Samithi due to its strength in Assembly.
