Budget session of Telangana Assembly from March 6

Hyderabad: The two weeklong Budget session of Telangana Assembly would start on March 6. The session will begin at 11 am with the customary Governor's address to both the Houses. This will be the first address of the joint session by new Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

According to sources, the sessions would be for two weeks. The annual budget would be presented on March 8. While Finance Minister T Harish Rao would present the budget in Assembly, Legislative Affairs Minister V Prashanth Reddy would be presenting in the Council.

Several bills, including new Revenue Act proposed by the government, new GHMC Act are likely to come up for discussion and passing. The Assembly is likely to adopt a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, opposing the CAA, had said that a resolution against the Act would be passed in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar directed the departmental heads to submit details of replies to pending questions in Assembly and Council, Zero Hour mentions, audit paras ad preparation of outcome budget and notes on demands to the General Administration Department by March 4.

Somesh Kumar informed that reports on new Presidential Order pertaining to new zonal system submitted by various departments to GAD and Finance, have been sent with some observations to the departments concerned.

He directed the officials to submit the proposals in accordance with rules by March 4 to GAD. Further, steps would be taken as per the business rules.

The implementation of new presidential order has been pending since 2018 and the government now wants to speed up the process.

He also asked the officials to take utmost care regarding the questions raised during the previous Assembly session and also on the present session.

He directed them to submit replies immediately and also coordinate with the assembly officials. The reports on pending audit paras should be sent to the PAC immediately.

Detailed information should be incorporated in note on demand and outcome budget. Departments should also prepare brief profile and submit to the government, he added.
