Asifabad: Farmers told to sell at CCI procurement centres only

Asifabad: District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu asked the farmers to sell their produce at Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procurement centres only. He held a meeting with ginning mill owners at the Collector's conference hall in Asifabad on Friday.

Addressing the participants, the Collector said that procurement centres will start from November 18 at Asifabad and Jainoor mandals and minimum support price will be Rs 5,550 with eight percent moisture content. If the moisture content is more than 8%, then Rs 55.50 will be reduced for every one percent more of moisture. CCI will not purchase cotton with more than 12 per cent moisture content, he clarified. Informing that the purchasing centres will be open from 9 am to 4 pm, he told the farmers to sell their produce within this time.

Collector Hanumanthu also told the farmers to bring their original pattadar passbook, Aadhar card, identity card, bank passbook and xerox copies to the purchasing centres. He informed that the CCI will credit the amount directly into the bank accounts of the farmers through online. He said that procurement centres in Kotapalli, Wankidi and Koutala mandals will be opened soon. He instructed the farmers not to sell their produce to middlemen and get cheated and to sell their produce only at government procurement centres.

Joint Collector Rambabu, Additional SP Sudhendra, Agriculture Officer Bhagyalakshmi, RDO PO Aruna, district marketing officer Gajanand, secretary Venkateshwara, Kagaznagar secretary Rahul, Jainoor secretary Devanna, fire, legal metrology and ginning mill owners and others were present.
