Akshaya Patra's first anniversary fete held
Sangareddy: The first anniversary of Akshaya Patra's kitchen at Kandi in Sangareddy was marked by musical day celebrations here on Saturday. Around 60 students from government schools showcased their skills. The event was graced by Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili, Judge, High Court of Telangana.
Akshaya Patra currently works with the Government of Telangana to serve 1,24,128 children from 875 schools in the State. The Foundation's Kandi kitchen reaches out to 90,399 children from 643 schools. The kitchen in Kandi is a high-tech mega kitchen with the capacity to prepare over 100,000 meals in a few hours.
As part of Akshaya Patra's 'Giving Every Dream a Chance' initiative, a mentorship programme to identify and nurture the talents of beneficiary children, 500 children have been trained by Furtados School of Music, informed an official. The children have been taught the basics of music in a mix of musical genre, in both vocals and percussion instruments. The event held at Kandi kitchen showcased the skills of 60 of these children, who sang various songs and played various percussion instruments which was appreciated by the audience.
'Akshaya Patra' also distributed clothes worth Rs 3 crore to children sponsored by Future Group at the event. Principal District and Sessions Judge K Sai Rama Devi, District Collector M Hanumanth Rao, Public Prosecutor of Telangana High Court K Raja Gopal, Fifth Additional Senior Judge C Pratap Reddy, DEO E Vijayalakshmi, DWO A Padmavathi, and M Uday Kumar, Business Head, Furtados School of Music, graced the occasion as special invitees along with other local leaders, sarpanch and MPTCs, Kandi and government officials, school teachers, and children. Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, Regional President of Akshaya Patra, TS & AP, presided over the function.
