5 students held for peddling ganja

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Excise Enforcement officials on Monday nabbed five ganja peddlers operating from Kukatpally and seized 3.01 kg ganja, a bike and five mobile phones from their possession.

According to N Anjireddy, AES, Enforcement, on receipt of illegal possession and transportation of dry ganja at Premnagar in Erragadda they seized 1.29 kg dry ganja and two mobiles from accused C Naga Raju (22, SSC failed) and Ch Srikanth (22, BBA student).

On further enquiry they revealed that they bought the ganja from another accused R Chandra Shekar Varma (19, B Tech), T Kranthi Kumar (21, ITI student), M Leela Krishna (20, Degree student) at Srinivasa PG Hostel in KPHB colony.

Excise sleuths proceeded to the spot and seized 1.76 kg dry ganja from the three accused. Efforts are on to nab the other absconding accused Anudeep, a resident of Yanam.

The accused were supplying ganja to the students near Kukatpally, Nizampet, Hafeezpet, Gokul Flats, Serilingampally and Borabanda by transporting the ganja from Araku.

Excise police said the customers of ganja are being identified through mobile phones and action will be initiated against them.
