2-day bank strike from today in Basheerbagh

Basheerbagh: Banks would be closed on account of the employees' strike on January 31 and February 1 to press the demands for solving their problems, said leaders of the United Forum of Banks' Unions, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana units, here, on Thursday.

Addressing the media, the leaders listed, among 12 demands, the 11th wage revision pending since 2017, the merger of allowance with basic pay, scrapping of a new pension scheme. The leaders said employees of both public sector, private and foreign banks would join the strike across the country in about 10,000 branches.

They stated that already talks on the demands had been held many times with the Central government representatives while asserting that the employees were being forced to go on strike because of the government's adamant attitude.

The leaders threatened that if the government does not change its attitude there would an indefinite strike.
