WhatsApp Update: WhatsApp Introduces New 'Favourites' Chat Filter

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging applications globally, is gearing up for a new update designed to improve user experience. The upcoming feature, dubbed the 'Favourites' chat filter, aims to help users easily access their most frequently used chats. This new addition is currently in development and will soon be available for beta testers registered through the Google Play Beta Program.

The 'Favourites' chat filter is an enhanced version of the existing chat pinning feature. Currently, WhatsApp users can pin up to three chats to the top of their chat list. However, the new filter will allow users to segregate and prioritize their most-used chats more effectively. This upgrade will be particularly useful for those who communicate with multiple contacts and need a streamlined way to access their important conversations.

According to WABetainfo, once the feature passes the development phase, it will be available to beta testers for initial trials. Additionally, WhatsApp is also testing other filters for unread messages and group chats, aiming to provide users with more specific chat views.

The new feature is part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.7 update. Users will be able to mark chats as 'Favourites,' making it easier to find important conversations among numerous chats. This filter will be added to the current user interface options, which include 'All,' 'Unread,' and 'Groups.' The inclusion of the 'Favourites' filter will expand these options to four, providing a more organized chat experience.

To use this feature, users can manually add chats to their 'Favourites' by selecting the 'Add to Favourites' option, which is displayed at the bottom of the page. This allows users to customize their chat list according to their preferences, including adding, removing, and rearranging chats within the 'Favourites' section.

In addition to the 'Favourites' chat filter, WhatsApp is working on several other updates. One notable upcoming feature is aimed at improving the Communities option within the app. This new feature will allow community admins to create reminders for upcoming events, helping keep community members informed and engaged. Admins will be able to notify group members about scheduled events, enhancing the organizational capabilities of WhatsApp groups.

Moreover, WhatsApp is extending the maximum duration of voice messages in status updates. Currently, users can only upload 30-second voice messages, but the new update will increase this limit to one minute. This change will allow users more flexibility in sharing voice messages through their Status updates.

Overall, these updates reflect WhatsApp's commitment to enhancing user experience by introducing features that cater to the evolving needs of its users. The 'Favourites' chat filter, in particular, is set to provide a more personalized and efficient way for users to manage their chats, making communication on WhatsApp even more seamless.
