iPhone Fold May Feature Biggest Battery Ever on an iPhone, Latest Leaks Suggest

Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone is steadily becoming one of the most anticipated tech launches of 2026. While Samsung and Google have already cemented their positions in the foldable smartphone space, Apple appears to be gearing up for a major entrance—and new leaks suggest the company is planning something big, quite literally, in terms of battery capacity.

A fresh report from Korean tipster Yeux1122 indicates that Apple is testing a significantly larger battery for its upcoming foldable model. The iPhone Fold, expected to arrive in September 2026, may come equipped with a massive 5,400mAh to 5,800mAh battery. If accurate, this would make it the biggest battery ever used in an iPhone.

Currently, the largest battery in Apple’s lineup belongs to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which carries a 5,088mAh unit in its eSIM-only variant. Apple’s potential jump to nearly 5,800mAh for the foldable model would not only surpass its existing flagship but also leave rivals behind. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 includes a 4,400mAh battery, while Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers a 5,015mAh pack.

This aligns with earlier insights from noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who mentioned that Apple plans to use high-density battery cells to improve efficiency and power delivery. Still, as the latest leak comes from supply-chain sources, it is advisable to view it as early information that could evolve closer to launch.

Beyond the battery, other reported details paint a picture of a feature-packed device. The foldable iPhone is expected to sport a 7.8-inch main display when unfolded, paired with a 5.5-inch outer display for regular use. Apple may also introduce a four-camera setup and bring back Touch ID—this time integrated into the side button. Interestingly, leaks suggest the device may not include a physical SIM tray, continuing Apple’s push toward a fully eSIM-based ecosystem.

Connectivity upgrades may include Apple’s second-generation C2 modem, while the design is expected to prioritize durability and everyday practicality—key areas where current foldables often face user concerns.

As for the launch timeline, the foldable iPhone is reportedly on schedule for a fall 2026 release, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 18 models are believed to be planned for early 2027, with additional variants such as the iPhone 18e and possibly the iPhone Air 2 expected around the same period.

Pricing speculation suggests the iPhone Fold could land in the $2000–$2500 bracket (approximately ₹1,75,000–₹2,20,000). This puts it close to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which starts at ₹1,74,999 in India. If Apple can deliver strong battery performance along with a refined foldable experience, the iPhone Fold may shape up to be one of the standout premium devices of 2026.
